Provisional Detention of Two Accused in Aggravated Intentional Violence Case in Teuk Thla Sangkat

Phnom Penh: Two defendants, Ny Phearoch and Vong Sam Onn, along with other accomplices who are currently at large, have been charged with aggravated intentional violence in Phsar village, Teuk Thla, Sangkat Teuk Thla, Khan Sen Sok, Phnom Penh, on July 17, 2024. This criminal offense falls under Article 218 of the Penal Code of the Kingdom of Cambodia.

After thoroughly questioning the accused and reviewing the evidence, the investigating judge ordered the detention of the two accused to proceed with legal proceedings.

A spokesman for the Phnom Penh Municipal Court stated that action was taken in Criminal Case No. 4732, dated July 19, 2024, concerning the aggravated intentional violence committed by a gang. The incident involved six individuals who used helmets to assault the victim, resulting in injuries to the victim's left side.

The spokesman further emphasized that the Phnom Penh Municipal Court continues to strictly enforce the law against gang activities that disrupt public order and endanger the well-being of the community.
